More details - Game On, Front Porch Kit

Chip, The Clip Board

I decided to design a Travel Game Book using "Chip" as my cover. The book includes the License Plate Game, Alphabet Game, and Sign Game.

I have some detail photos to share with you.

The License Plate Game

I found a tablet of the United States at Mardel Book Store that I cut apart and glued to the back of the cardstock and then cut the states out. I found a printable version of all the states license plates on Pinterest. I attached them to cardstock and mounted them next to the states. I put the states in alphabetical order. The website for the license plates is: www.myfamilytravels.com//assets/pdfFamilyTravelForum.com

I punched small scalloped squares from the Chalkboard tape that I put beside the state and license plate. All the participant has to do is check the square with a chalk marker, as they find the license plates. The game instructions is also printed on the above website.
If you are local there are copies of the license plates and States available for your use.

The Alphabet Game:

I used the alphas in the kit and cut the chalkboard tape in 1/4" strips and placed them above the letters. As you are traveling and see an object or word that begins with the letter A , for example, you write with the chalk marker on the strip above the letter.

The Sign Game:

I used the Cricut cartridge "CARS" to cut the road signs.

The pages are 5 X 7 with rounded corners. My darling husband drilled holes in "Chip" so I could put rings in to hold the book together. The cover of the book is not attached to "Chip" so you could turn the cover page and use "Chip" as a surface to write on.
Hope you enjoy!

Front Porch Kit Friday Blog Hop

Scrapbooking "Simple Stories" Style

There is an increasing number of companies designing papers to use in conjunction with the divided sheet protectors. There are also many different combinations of divided protectors.

I love designing 12 X 12 scrapbook pages, but sometimes I have literally 100's of photos of one event, trip, or photo shoot. That is when I use " Simple Stories" style of scrapbooking.

I start in one of two ways:

(1). If I have tons of pictures and have not determined a paper line yet, I get out all of my divided sheet protectors and get busy. I pick the creme of the crop pictures and slide them into a 12 X 12 sheet protector. This will become my whole page layouts. Sometimes it is very hard to choose. I then start sorting the photos according to date, place, or outfit. I further divide into horizontal or vertical photos. Next I start filling the dividers. Intentionally, I leave some blank to plug in titles, printed papers, and embellishments. Because the divided pages are front / back and if  you want to incorporate a double page layout, you have to keep in mind that you will need to design a single page layout to maintain the order of sucession of the front / back order. When I use this method, I might set aside until the right paper comes along or start using a particular paper line not even designed for this method of scrapbooking.

(2). I have purchased a paper line that has been designed especially for the divided sheet protectors so I cut apart the 4 X 6's, 3 X 4's, 2 X 12's,4 X 4's, 6 X 12's, etc. Do you see a pattern here. These papers were designed specifically to fit into the many divisions of the divided sheet protectors. At this point, I might make a list of contents for the pages. I rely on date, place or outfit for this or the paper design. For example: Christmas:
Decorating the Tree or House
A visit to Santa
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
Then some of these can be divided further. Christmas Day - opening presents, family, a meal, etc.
I divide paper and photos to fit into these categories. I fill all of the protectors, even it is just with cardstock. Most of these papers are two sided. Work on one side and turn the protector over. If one of the papers is not working with your theme, then cut a paper or picture that size and insert it instead. I go back and start embellishing by adding titles, decorations buttons, trims, etc.

For Front Porch Kits newest release, "Say Cheese", I chose the second method. I had the papers I needed (wanted) to use, so I began cutting the papers. I had studied the photos I had, so the planning process began. I divided my photos by date and then event. My grandsons had been to Disney so I had decided with all of the bright colors and fun patterns , this kit would be perfect.  This is what I designed:

I still have many photos to scrapbook. Each month when I receive the Page Builder Blueprints available at The Little Blue House, I prepare 6 layouts of each design. One for each grandchild, 1 Disney, and 1 Heritage. So I will add these pages to my divided page layouts. I also have purchased another patterned paper and cardstock add-on kit so I can duplicate some of the other designer's layouts from The Front Porch Kits "Say Cheese" kit..
